  • Veterans’ Affairs recipients: Will receive payments on their regular payment date closest to April 14
  • Department of Human Services payment recipients: Will receive the supplement with their regular payment if their payment date falls between April 14-28

For the relatively small number of pensioners who still receive physical checks (approximately 0.5% of recipients), the supplements will be mailed on April 10, with expected delivery between April 14-21, depending on location.

While the April 2025 supplement is currently structured as a one-time payment, government sources have indicated that similar supplements may become regular features of Australia’s pension system.

“We’re evaluating the possibility of institutionalizing these supplements as semi-annual payments,” reveals a senior advisor within the Treasury Department who requested anonymity due to the preliminary nature of these discussions.

“The data clearly shows these targeted supplements are more effective than across-the-board rate increases in addressing specific inflationary pressures.”

If implemented, future supplements would likely arrive in April and October each year, coinciding with seasonal peaks in energy usage and associated household expenses.
